Tech Spotlight: vLoc3-Pro Utility Locator

When out in the SUE field, we want to use the most innovative tech possible. The vLoc3-Pro Utility Locator from Vivax Metrotech gives us just that. It features some of the best tools when it comes to locating subsurface utilities such as distortion detection by the Locator’s two sets of 3D antennas and new perspective screens in addition to the classic location screens. Those screens include Vector Locate for fully automatic non-walkover locating; Transverse Graph which shows both peak and null at the same time provides direct measurement of signal distortion; Plain View that shows the relative orientation of the cable at any angle; and Sonde Locate which has guidance arrows that lead to the sonde location even when it’s vertical.

Our techs love it because of the heads-up display that shows the milliamp signal in real time and how easy it is to use. The transverse graph screen, the various functions for congested areas, and the fact that it shows if you have a current active connection with the transmitter are all reasons this our favorite piece of equipment among our techs.
